The Garden & Local Area
If a breath of fresh air is needed you are most welcome to wander around our peaceful garden and visit the pond fed by the river Sow.
If you wish to walk a little further along the River Sow, public footpaths lead to Jacksons Marsh with its board walks maintained by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. If you are lucky you may spot kingfishers or otters. Continuing the walk for a couple of miles leads to the beautiful lake of Copmere and the nearest pub, The Star, a traditional inn serving excellent food and drink. Returning you can visit Jacksons coppice a real treasure on a hillside just a couple of hundred metres from Brook House. In late spring the bluebells are breathtaking. It is also the site of one of the largest badger colonies in Staffordshire.
For further places of interest all easily visited on day trips from Brook House please visit both Enjoy Stafford and Shropshire Tourism which tell you more about the great attractions and areas to visit during your stay.
We had a very special stay here. Family spread across the lovely new cottage and a room in the house. Andrei looked after us superbly and our breakfasts were delicious! The setting is just so peaceful and a perfect place for a getaway! We were celebrating a 40th birthday so enjoyed a lovely celebratory meal at The Smithy in Eccleshall after a brilliant day at Trentham Gardens (there really is "something for everyone") and a trip to Water world at Stoke on the way home. Lots to do in the surrounding area and a wonderful peaceful setting to come 'home to. Thank you!!!
This is a lovely, tranquil little getaway. We were lucky enough to stay in the new cottage nestled into the woods and it was lovely and peaceful, the view out the window to the tree shaded pond area was beautiful. We took one of our dogs and there is good walking straight out the front door, with only quiet roads joining up pastures and meadows to walk through. The garden is also big enough to stretch a dogs legs if you don't fancy taking in the local countryside. As for B&B our breakfasts were excellent and eaten in the conservatory looking out on the garden and woodlands beyond. We even treated ourselves to some treatments (facial for my wife, back and neck massage for me), both were terrific, excellent value for money and highly recommended!! This is a lovely retreat, the hosts friendly and welcoming and well worth a stay. We shall be back!!
Perfect hosts, amazing culinary experience, beautifully appointed rooms with an amazing garden / vegetable plot in a stunning setting. Wish that we had the time to experience the wellness therapies on offer. Looking forward to a return visit.
Our first visit to brook house & it was all that we hoped for &more! Ian and Vicki are such wonderful people & made us feel so very welcome! The treatments we received were out of this world! We will definitely be visiting again for longer next time. Thank you both for such a relaxing stay ❤️️
This was our second visit and this time we stayed for the two night retreat which was wonderful!! The 3 course Indian meal Ian lovingly prepared and cooked for us was delicious and I will never forget it. Vicki's treatments were 'out of this world' , thank you! I can't praise this little gem of a B&B highly enough. The warmest of welcomes, comfiest rooms, tasty home cooked food (homemade bread and biscuits) by the lovely Ian, magical treatments, historic house and beautiful surroundings make this guest house very special. Whether you are passing through or want to try somewhere local you can't beat Brookhouse. See you again next year !! Nicky and Kev Healy.
Thank you Ian and Vicky for a fantastic stay. It made mums birthday very special and the massage was the best she ever had. I recommend everyone stays here, you won't regret it
This is not just a B and B. Today I had the most relaxing morning I've had in years. The moment I heard the birds and saw the peaceful location I knew it would be something special. I had the most caring and relaxing massage from Vicki who went to great trouble to make sure I was comfortable at all time. The treatment room was peaceful and even had a log burner. I've never been made to feel so welcome anywhere and I've been to many places for treatments. There is no rush and I was given a snack and freshly squeezed orange juice after my treatment. I am going back again and plan to have a night with the husband here too, having a glass of wine in the peaceful garden. Thank you so much Vicki and Ian for your hospitality. Xx
What a lovely morning with my friends after the most relaxing massage in the relaxing sanctuary that is the treatment room i was unexpectedly treated to a great lunch, pitta bread made and cooked while we were chatting and a gorgeous array of freshly made dips from around the world. feeling chilled
We stayed with Vicki and Ian about a year ago when they looked after us wonderfully. Our return this year was not disappointing. The accommodation is very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Vicki and Ian could not have done more to welcome us and make our stay delightful. We will certainly return another time. Many thanks Kathy and Vin
